Nano Supermarket

Supermarket of the future for the Dutch Design Week
2010

Together with Jan van der Asdonk I built and installed the mock-ups of future products in the Nano Supermarket.

people in line for the Nano Supermarket in Eindhoven

The NANO Supermarket presents speculative nanotech products that may hit the shelves within the next ten years: medicinal candy, interactive wall paint, a wine which taste can be altered with microwaves, a twitter implant, invisible security spray and much more. It is an actual shop on wheels, where you can, taste & test our products and experience the impact of nanotechnology on our everyday lives.

WallSmart

WallSmart by Jonas Enqvist is a wall paint that can change colour through the push of a button. (See his website, donebyme.com). I built a prototype for the Nano Supermarket. It consists of a paint bucket with RGB LEDs that can change colour. This video shows the communication between the WallSmart App running on an Android mobile device, and the RGB leds connected to an Arduino. A Rayson BTM-110 Bluetooth module converts the Bluetooth serial commands to RS232 (serial) signals. The colour wheel is based on the OI Color Picker

More information can be found on the Nano Supermarket website.
